Pizza and Half Court
Grab
Something real to cut (toast, pizza, playdough) or paper court drawings, and a marker.

Free Shot to open: if we split a pizza fairly between us two, how much do you get?

Cut the real thing into halves, then quarters. Ask: what do we call ONE of these pieces?

Draw a basketball court. He shades half, then a quarter.

The trick question: would you rather have 1/2 or 1/3 of the pizza? Why?

Watch for the classic trap: does he think 1/3 is bigger because 3 is bigger than 2?

If stuck
Stay with halves only. Genuinely fine, now you know the floor.
If flying
Cut eighths. Ask: is 2/4 the same as 1/2? Prove it with the pieces.
